Workshop overview

Balancing work, personal life and our spiritual well-being appears to be increasingly impossible in a world of overwhelming demands. As we try and achieve it, often the very attempt becomes another stressor in our lives, and contentment eludes us.

In rare moments when we are able to calmly assess our lives we are confronted with a number of questions which leave us puzzled and uneasy:

  • Why do we try and do so much?
  • How do we find meaning in our lives?
  • Is contentment possible in these accelerated, demanding times?
  • How can we live more happily with others?
  • Meditation and serenity - an impossible quest in time-poor modern life?

This workshop, led by psychotherapist, writer and Buddhist teacher Renate Ogilvie aims to address these questions. This workshop combines the ancient wisdom teachings with the most up-to-date principles of Western psychotherapy, as well as how we can:

  • apply the wisdom of the Buddha’s teachings to our modern world;
  • learn life skills from the cutting-edge research in psychotherapy and neuroscience;
  • explore the principles of mindfulness meditation;
  • re-connect with the basics in our life that make us content and resourceful in challenging times;
  • unearth innate wisdom, loving kindness and humour to equip us as modern spiritual warriors.
